Is My Skin Suitable For Microblading?
Microblading is a manual method of implanting pigment superficially into the skin and creating an individual's ideal eyebrows by shaping, fixing, or adding eyebrow hair. At first thought, it seems that microblading should produce similar results on everyone looking to achieve better brows. This assumption, however, is not entirely true. Certain skin types may not be suitable for a microblading treatment or may require more frequent touch-ups after the initial treatment. We're breaking down all of the main skin types and how the microblading treatment and healing process can differ.
How Each Skin Type Is Affected
For individuals with oily, acne-prone skin, microblading treatment may not be a suitable option for optimal results after microblading. To learn more about each skin type, keep reading below.
Those who have a "normal" skin type, meaning they're not prone to breakouts and have an adequately hydrated t-zone, often have excellent healing. After a microblading treatment with this skin type, touch-ups won't be necessary for an average of one to one and a half years.
Although often hydrated and supple, having more of an oily skin type may produce less crisp results than others. For example, someone with excessive amounts of oil in their skin can have powdery results that can bleed and spread on the skin. Someone with this skin type may need to be touched up more frequently, depending on how well it heals.
If an individual has dry skin, it typically feels tight throughout the day and may flake depending on the dryness level. When someone with dry skin decides to get microblading, the result will be crisp lines that maintain long-lasting results. Dry skin tends to retain the color from the microblading better than any other skin type since oils from the skin won't dilute the pigment as much as other skin types may. Results of this treatment can last one and a half years or more.
