According to a study released by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, more than 450,000 men received botulinum toxin, most commonly known as Botox, injections in 2016. Other injection brands in the study included Dysport and Xeomin, which offer similar results to Botox.

This study and many others conducted before it show that more men are getting Botox than ever. The numbers have risen sharply over the years, with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons citing a 337 percent increase in injections among men from 2000 to 2015.

Many professionals who provide the treatments in their practice say that the most common patients are white-collar professionals who want to look better and remain competitive in their industry. The most recent professional to make headlines about his Botox treatment is former football star Deion Sanders. One of his most famous sayings throughout his career has been, “If you look good, you feel good,” and he told Entertainment Tonight reporters that at 50 years old, that saying has never been more true for him.

“I am pretty much at halftime. I feel like I am at halftime in my life, and now it’s time to go into the locker room and reassess things and come back out with a whole new plan,” he said, according to ETonline.
