Those looking to address their skin issues such as fine lines and wrinkles may be contemplating getting facial injections. However, there are many different types of injections to be considered. Botox is known as one of the most common injectables and has been used for many decades. However, a new injectable is here to take over, and it goes by the name of Dysport.
What Is Dysport?
With many similarities to Botox, this injectable is a botulinum toxin by composition. It is injected under the skin and works to relax facial muscles and treat targeted areas of wrinkles. Dysport is a non-surgical and FDA-approved injectable treatment that is quick and convenient.
Who is Dysport For?
Both men and women who are under the age of 65 are ideal for Dysport injections. These individuals often use it to decrease the fine lines that many can find above the brows. Most clients will be good candidates for this wrinkle-reducing treatment. However, some contraindications that individuals need to consider before choosing Dysport.
- If an individual has allergies to milk proteins, Dysport, or Botox products please stay away from this treatment.
- Individuals who have skin infections on or near the Dysport targeted areas before their injection should wait for it to clear up before partaking in this treatment.
- Any individuals who have had facial surgeries, deep facial scars, thick skin, or drooping eyelids should avoid having Dysport injections done.
We recommend that you speak with your doctor prior to your appointment to discuss any possible medical concerns about getting Dysport injections.
Dysport Vs. Botox
Both Dysport and Botox are used to prevent wrinkles in adults, both male and female. The difference between the two is that Botox is approved to treat forehead and crows feet lines and wrinkles, while Dysport is approved only for glabellar lines. For those who don’t know what glabellar lines are, it is the wrinkles that form on the forehead area between the eyebrows and nose. Both injections take only a few minutes to complete and will start to show results within the first week of treatment. Dysport, however, may begin just a touch earlier by showing results only days after treatment, while Botox may take the full week to appear.
The Dysport Injection Process
Dysport treats moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows by reducing specific muscle activity. With one injection into each of 5 points between and above the eyebrows, Dysport will temporarily prevent muscle contractions from causing frown lines. This treatment will leave the rest of the face to move naturally.
