Getting Under-Eye Filler

Call Us Today: 817.778.4444

We’ve all been there. Almost everyone reading this has likely had a coworker ask them if they’re tired or unwell because of the bags under their eyes. Unfortunately, when asked, most of us are perfectly well-rested and may have even been feeling good about the way we looked that day. If under-eye troughs are of significant bother to individuals, they can rest assured knowing that there is a remedy for that, and it goes by the name of under-eye filler.

 What Are Under-Eye Fillers?

Under-eye fillers are a way to eliminate the under-eye shadows that the eye can create, making an individual look tired. Medical estheticians can inject the under-eye area, also known as the tear trough, to make the area look lighter and plumper. There are several different options of injections that we can use for under-eye fillers. These include:

  • Hyaluronic acid: These injections are composed of hyaluronic acid, which mimics the acid that the body naturally produces. This type of injection includes name brands such as Restylane, Belotero, and Juvederm injections
  • Poly-L-lactic acid: This option is composed of poly-L-lactic acid that is a synthetic bio compostable material. This injection includes the brand Sculptra Aesthetic.
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite: The calcium hydroxylapatite injection is thicker than hyaluronic acid. It is a biocompatible dermal filler made from phosphate and calcium, which stimulates collagen production. An example of this type of injection is the Radiesse brand.

 What Is the Procedure?

We understand that some people may be nervous about having anything injected into their faces. That’s why we’re giving a quick rundown of the procedure.

  1. The medical esthetician will mark targeted areas for injection, in this case, the under-eye area. We will sterilize it before injection
  2. Then, we will apply numbing cream to desensitize the area
  3. The injections into the area will begin
  4. Once done, the needle will be withdrawn and smoothed into place

 Recovery and Results

Recovery after under-eye injections is very minimal. After the injections are complete, the client can immediately apply an ice pack to the eye to lessen the effects of any post-bruising or swelling in the area. We may schedule a follow-up appointment to check in on the area after a few days. Depending on the type of injection chosen, results can last anywhere from 9 months to 2 years.
