Do you secretly want Botox injections but you’re putting them off because you’re afraid of getting injections? Maybe you’re afraid that you will end up with a “frozen face” and won’t be able to smile, laugh or frown? If you are envious of friends who are living with and loving their endotoxin injections, you don’t have to be: Botox won’t leave you looking frozen or plastic. In fact, we think you’ll look great! Dr. Davis offers patients Botox and other minimally invasive injectables.

If you’re letting the fear of frozen face or other Botox myths hold you back from looking your very best, consider us mythbusters! Here are some common myths about Botox we have heard:

They are poison. While Botox and other endotoxin injections are derived from a toxic protein (botulinum toxin), they are very safe when used as indicated and administered by a trained professional like Dr. Davis.

Botox is only for cosmetic purposes. While Botox is primarily used for aesthetics, there are other uses for this popular endotoxin, including FDA-approved use to treat muscle spasms, migraines, excessive sweating and overactive bladder conditions.

Botox is a filler. Nope, Botox is not a filler so, if you’re looking to fill in wrinkles, lines and creases, it won’t work. Like we mentioned, Botox temporarily paralyzes facial muscles to prevent wrinkles. If you’ve already got wrinkles, dermal fillers would be the way to go, but you can combine Botox injections and dermal fillers for a potent 1-2 beauty punch!

There’s a lot of downtime after the procedure. The truth is the total opposite: There’s little to no downtime after the Botox procedure. Botox injections just take a few minutes in the office (perfect for your lunch break!), and you can go back to work right after. Most people do not even experience bruising after injections, so your secret will be safe with us!

You’ll end up with a “frozen face.” Totally won’t happen. While it’s true that these injections work by temporarily by paralyzing the facial muscles, you won’t end up looking plastic or emotionless. You will still be able to smile and laugh.

Results are permanent. Also not true. The effects of Botox only last three to four months on average, so if you don’t love how you look, you can skip your next treatment. If you want to keep getting injections, give us a call at 817-778-4444 to schedule your appointment or consultation.
